Author Guidelines

El-Hayah is a scholarly journal focuses on the publication of textual or empirical studies, either classical or contemporary in the field of Islamic studies. This journal is a communication medium among reviewers of Islamic studies published in Indonesia. It is published regularly on June and December by Postgraduate of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. The journal invites contribution of reviewers, researchers, academicians, and practitioners of Islamic studies to share their articles in Arabic, English and Bahasa Indonesia. The article will be selected, and then reviewed by blind-review to maintain high scientific level.

The article should notice the following submissions:

The article conveys the result of text-based or empirical Islamic studies research, either the results of the research literature or fieldwork. The article is an original work of the author (not plagiarism), which has not been or is not being published in a journal or book.
The article is written in Bahasa, English or Arabic, applying 1.5 line-spaced, 12-point Times News Roman font. The article is also written in 20-25 pages or containing 4,000-7,000 words, including bibliography.
The authors name is written without identifying title or position. Under the name of the author, it is listed the name of authors institution, and email address.
The articles should include abstract presented both in English and Bahasa. The abstract represents manuscripts content, should concisely inform the reader of the manuscripts logical argument to do research. The abstract is written in one paragraph with single-spaced containing 150-200 words.
Keywords, of no more five words and represents articles concept, should be included in the abstract.
The technique of writing employs submission of Kate L. Turabian in A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations by writing source of footnote and bibliography. Footnote is displayed at the end of the page, for example:
Book:Kate L. Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertation (Chicago and London: The University of Chicago Press, 1996), p. 10.

Reference of Bibliography should be arranged in alphabetic order, with the following submissions:

8.The article must be free from plagiarism; through attached evidence (screenshot) that article has been verified through anti-plagiarism software, but not limited to the plagiarism checker (plagramme.com).

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
